One week after a phenomenal MTB World Championships in Canberra, Australia the complete MTB XC Elite met again in the mountains of Switzerland to fight again for the overall World Cup title in the 2nd to last race.

The 2009 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships took place this past week at Mount Stromlo, on the outskirts of Australia’s capital of Canberra.

The Oakley Factory Pilot team gathered from all over the globe to compete at the highest level in the hope to test their skills to become “World Champion”. After 5 days of racing we are proud to report Oakley has 4 new World Champions and a total of 10 World championship medals earned by Oakley athletes who rely on our product as Vital Equipment.

Oakley’s Maunuel Prado and Sid Taberlay placed first and second at the Over the Hump Race, held on a beautiful, warm day at Irvine Lake, last week. Legendary Johnny O’Mara placed 10th. Oakley sponsors the Over the Hump series, a “grassroots” event, which brings the Orange County Mountain Bike community together for a midweek, laidback, fun race.
