Bio

18 year-old FMG athlete Marc Lacomare from Hossegor, France, ends his 2008 competitive year with yet another great result by placing third at the prestigious Billabong World Junior Championships, held in North Narrabeen, Sydney, Australia.

By making it to the semis, Marc was the highest placed European of the event. Marc created a big upset on his way to the semis eliminating one of the event’s favorites Owen Wright in round three.

The Billabong World Junior Championships, which bring together the world’s best juniors, are seen as a major stepping-stone in a junior surfer’s career and this result will certainly give Marc a big push for the European Pro Junior tour and title, which will be his main focus in 2009.

“It is obviously hard to loose so close before the final, but I’m still happy with this result and also how the latter part of 2008 turned out for me. I’m really amped and I’m looking forward to the 2009 season! I’ll stay in Australia a little bit longer and will do some more Pro Junior contests here and as this result gives me a good seeding, maybe even a few WQS events.”

Previous to his success at the World Junior Championships, Marc clinched the European Junior title at the Eurojuniors in Morocco in November, won the French national junior title and came second at the Oakley Global Challenge, a junior event, which brought together some of the world’s best juniors in Bali in October 2008.
